Finding the Words
Odd, when I was writing a few garden blogs I was never at a loss as to what to write. For me, after 20 plus years of gardening, writing about it comes easily. It’s second nature.
Perhaps because I have only been stitching for a few years, I feel like I know so very little. So, what would I have to share with you all?
I can say this, it’s easy to get started! Jump in. The materials are easy to come by and inexpensive. Should you have a major fail with a project it’s not that bad. Also, remember, we don’t have to share every. single. thing. we do on social media. We can keep some things private.
What I am loving is that you can stitch for a few minutes here and there, or for hours at a time, I prefer the hours at time! Afternoons, in the comfy, white chair, stitching, daydreaming and sorta’ watching the television. Usually, some murder show on Acorn is playing, which I may not really be listening to, it’s more of white noise.
I have found that even with my handful of stitches, I am dreaming up many different stitching paths to explore. I have done abstract pieces, flowers, houses, necklace pendants, and some three-dimensional pieces. I am finding embroidery to be very flexible and intuitive. If you are making your own designs, following your own creative sparks, you can’t do it incorrectly. The piece may not turn out like you envisioned, but that’s simply a chance to get the idea correct the next time.
I decided to make a few embroidery pendants for the holidays. I wish I would have given myself more fabric abound the design. These were pretty tricky to pull snuggly around the metal disk before adhering them to the pendant frame. So there’s a mistake, so to speak, that is easy to learn from.
Happy Stitching!
