Satin Stitches
A new design is complete. I've been trying to conjure up a name for this work, but all I can think of is the thousands of tiny Satin Stitches I made to create this piece. A few embroidery friends said it looked daunting. I can appreciate that. But the truth is, once I have the design on the fabric and my colors selected, the stitching is quite relaxing.

One day I hope to have deadlines and obligations to meet with my work: that would mean I am selling and teaching. But for now, I do this for me and a show I have coming up in July. So time is on my side. I can listen to music, watch (more like listen) to the television and stitch for hours or a few moments.
It's very relaxing, the repetitive motion of threading the needle through the fabric over and over, slowly making my way down the field and filling it with color.
I framed this piece with dark blue threads. I like how the curving lines break free from the boundary and take the image beyond its border. I gravitate to the same colors over and over again. The proof to that can be found in the new stash of threads I acquired (I can't pass up sale). I found I have chosen the same colors - or ones just a tick off of a color one way or the other - many times over. Ah well, my design ideas may be varied, but my color palette is a bit more settled ... for now.
Happy Stitching,
Jennifer
