It’s Not a Lack of Ideas

I haven’t had a new piece to post the last few weeks, but it’s certainly not because of a lack of ideas. I had a very relaxing and much needed trip to the Florida panhandle and then work, migraines and life kept me away from my stitches. But, this last weekend I did finish a new ice, ‘Pretty Preppy’.

These are new colors for me: very bright and cheery for certain. I stepped a bit away from my waves but still held onto my abstract vision.
While I worked on that piece and took a little time away from the needle (not on purpose mind you) I continued to stockpile, in crazy abundance, design ideas. I find that as I wait for a call, kill a few moments before a meeting (I am always way early) or as I enjoy a little snack, I enjoy doodling new ideas for pieces. And while I have some nice sketchbooks for my drawings I find folded sheets of printer paper have been most handy.

If you have yet to try making your own designs, what is holding you back? A) If you don’t like it, it’s not like you have to share it with the world. B) Nothing bad will happen from simply starting to make marks on the paper. C) More often than not you will find something that makes you happy and eager to to see more of and eventually create with your needle and thread!
