Christmas in May, June July.....

I will be somewhat in the Christmas mood all this year as I tackle what may become a difficult goal of creating 50 Christmas ornaments for the Holiday Market this year at the Mariemont Art Barn.

I thought it would be great to have a Christmas tree with a ton of lights- I do adore a lot of lights- and bedecked in Christmas ornaments for sale.

These small pieces are perfect for adding a little something special to gift wrapping, they are perfect stocking stuffers, and of course as an ornament for your tree, or the tree of a friend or family member.

While they are small, they still take several hours to create, and that's before I add the backing. There is no way to price these following good business practices.  Pricing hand-made work is a challenge for artists. To pay yourself a reasonable wage, the price is most often more than what people are willing to pay: especially if it's a small piece. Add to that, many still see hand sewn creations as craft, not art.

It's an uphill battle for creators, a battle that will be hard fought for years to come I am certain.
